sam & i have been trying to find more things to do these days that don't revolve around eating food, shopping or watching tv. because it seems like 98% of our "recreational activities" consist of those things when going outside isn't an option {think cold & rainy PNW winters}. another saturday with nothing on the calendar quickly gets filled with grocery shopping, cleaning house & catching up on shows.
last weekend we broke out of that mold. we made the quick decision to go to our local ymca & hit up the open swim for an hour & we had a blast. the boys were a bit unsure at first {we've never done swim lessons & they've only played in pools a handful of times at hotels} but warmed up to it all pretty quickly & we found a new family activity that will definitely be in our regular things-to-do rotation from now on.
kids are fun. elliot's getting older & it's so fun to take these two out & do things as a little family. after the pool we grabbed some burgers & i totally had a happy-family moment. sometimes the days seem long & monotonous. my house almost always needs picking up & more often than not there's something left undone on the to do list. but i'm so grateful for this little life we've created & for the happiness these three guys bring into my life.
i just want to take this moment to be happy.
SO fun! We live in AZ so pool time is a necessity around these parts. We are having a pool built now and should be done next month and I can't wait for these fun family memories to fill our usually boring weekends.
ReplyDeleteOn a side note, I think it's adorable that Parker still has a little bit of baby chunk holding on! He's so cute! You need to do a toddler eats post on how you feed two boys because my boys eat like crazy and I never know what to feed them since my oldest {will be three in April} is starting to become extremely picky ;0)
Adorable pics!
oh a pool would totally be a necessity in AZ! how lucky you are to be getting one!! and I don't know how the heck P still has baby chub... sometimes I feel like he doesn't eat enough to make it through the day. I could do a post on what these guys eat but it might be embarrassing... pb&j, nuggets & all natural nitrate/nitrite free hot dogs from TJ's are staples around here!
DeleteYour boys are precious!
ReplyDeletethanks so much Liv!! xo!
DeleteLove it! We also frequently hit up our indoor pool at our town rec center on the weekends and the kids love it. Aren't those little puddle jumper life jackets the best? My Nicole (who is the same age as Parker) loves her's and it's really helped her be more confident in the pool (and helped me be more relaxed that I don't always have to have a hand on her!)
ReplyDeleteyeah, it's awesome they have those. Parker isn't quite comfortable enough yet to go it alone but I'm hoping after a few more trips he might get more confident & skilled in the water! :)
DeleteAw that looks like so much fun! I hope we can get our $$ together to do a membership to a local pool in a year or two. Things around CT are just NOT cheap. It seems that every activity that isn't a library or walking around WalMart (yes, that's an activity these days), costs so much $!
ReplyDeleteI hear ya! We actually aren't members at the Y... it only cost $11 for our whole family to swim during open swim. Super reasonable for an activity with 4 people, I thought. We'll definitely do it again :)
DeleteWe love taking our little guy to the pool during the winter. The local YMCA saves us...such a great way for us all to enjoy quality time together all the while burning off a little energy. Also, these images are so beautiful, what lens did you use to take them? I love the way you capture the everyday moments!! :)
ReplyDeletethanks so much Ashley! Yeah, we aren't members at the Y but it was really reasonable to just pay the fee & come play. These pics are with my 35mm 1.4. Most everything I've been shooting lately is with this lens b/c I broke my 50mm. WAH!
DeleteWe are members at the Y mostly for the indoor/outdoor pools and the classes/treadmills for me... but mostly the pools ;) and I have to say that the 50mm is my favorite also. On my camera most of the time but these photos with the 35mm 1.4 are just so beautiful!
DeleteLove this! We have been doing the same thing lately, and it sure has made a difference in how I feel about life in general.
ReplyDeleteImagine trying to pull that one off in today's world, not a chance of you allowing a door to door sale's person in your home with something creepy they want to stick in your pool. LARRY
