seventeen weeks. bump.

i felt lots of little movements this week!  just little nudges here & there that probably could be anything but i like to think it's baby.  and i think it probably is.

my belly's still in that stage where it doubles by night time or after i eat.  i posted this picture on instagram {are we instagram friends?  let's be.  @amy_agoodlife} & people couldn't believe how big my belly was.  buuuuuut, that was after a tasty lunch of enchiladas at my favorite mexican restaurant so a little bit of food baby may be to blame.  whattyagonnado?  i still think the belly's getting bigger, even if the first-thing-in-the-morning-picture up above doesn't really portray it.  ah well.

i've started my nightly ritual of slathering my belly up in cocoa butter in an attempt to prevent stretch marks.  say what you will about stretch mark prevention but i beat the odds during my pregnancy with p-ray & used cocoa butter religiously so i'm doing it again.  even if it means going to bed feeling like a tanning bed every night.

and yes!  our BIG ultrasound got moved up a day due to scheduling conflicts by the doctor's office!  huzzah!  one less day of anticipation.  i'm only a little bit overly excited.

round ligament pain has kicked in this week.  i've found myself waking up a couple times in the night because i've turned in bed too quickly & my belly feels like it's being ripped apart.  it's lovely.  or a sneeze i'm not quite prepared for that sends stabbing pain into my abdomen.  oh the things you forget about due to pregnancy amnesia.  yay for that.

but overall i'm feeling pretty good & enjoying this fun stage of the second trimester.  the part where everything is starting to feel real & you are enjoying the burst of energy & normalcy.  i'm not super achy & my belly isn't slowing me down.  but who knows?  maybe i'll get lucky & it'll all stay this good for the next twenty-three weeks!

a girl can hope.

  3. So cute! What brand of cocoa butter are you using? I slathered and slathered and slathered with my pregnancy, but unfortunately my stomach looks like a Rand McNally map! Hopefully whenever #2 happens, I can prevent it from getting worse. I still slather everyday now in hopes those nasty marks will go away (wishful thinking). ;0) My mom got them real bad with me though so who knows. Your almost halfway there lady!!!

  5. looking at your pics with parker. I love how you did each week in the same shirt. With my #2 I was so much bigger from the start. I pretty much popped by 14wks.

  6. My good friend had her first baby a few months ago and layered first baby oil in the shower and then cocoa butter with vitamin e. She got zero stretch marks, BUT (not o sound crass!) she forgot her chest and said she got lots of stretch marks there right at the very end of her pregnancy. You probably already know this and didn't want to be blunt and write it but just in case don't forget your chest!

  9. grow baby grow! i always felt like my pregnancies (esp. my second) went by slower than the first (probably because i kind of knew what to expect) but now when reading others i feel like it flies by. what's that all about?!? you're about 1/2 way! awesome!

what does you mama intuition think you're having?

  11. Oh man, the sneezes are killer! If I am laying down I have to curl in a ball to sneeze or I pull every muscle. You look great. I definitely have a much larger belly at night too :)

  13. First thing, stop being so cute and tiny. You are hardly showing. Lucky.
And second thing - I used belly oil and cocoa butter all day every day when I was pregnant with Bennett and it didn't prevent stretch marks at all. AT. ALL. So.... my theory is that it really doesn't work - it all just depends on your skin type and what you are prone to. Again, you're lucky. I hate you. ;-)

  16. I remember being this far along and my belly was about the same size. Someone was like "your belly is tiny!" Well, now I know that was perfectly normal and once I got closer to my due date someone asked if I had twins in there. Ha. And sneezing was killer. Anyway, congrats on baby #2! I've been silently watching your updates :).
