wordless{ish} wednesday: hair cut fail.

i've mentioned a couple times how we're pretty excited parker is establishing a legitimate head of hair.  it's only taken him eighteen months to grow it & we're pretty proud.  however, it does tend to be a little unruly & could possibly even be classified as a mullet in some parts.  i think i once referred to it on here as a "skullet."  shhhh, don't tell parker.

last sunday sam decided he had had enough & wanted to try & trim up the thick, long hairs in the back & the stringy, thin hairs on the sides that fall over parker's ears.  i gave him the go ahead as long as he knew i'd probably kill him if he messed something up.

he set up a chair & some books & i of course grabbed my camera.

parker resisted.  he pushed away at the scissors & gave pathetic little whines that instantly broke our hearts.  about thirty seconds into the hair cut, it was over.  with all original hairs in tact & no trimmings to show for it.

how could you say no to this face?

we're calling in the pros this week.  and i think a little candy/sucker/milkshake/movie bribery might be in order.  books just didn't cut it.  haha, i'm punny.

{linking up with wordless wednesday at and then she {snapped},  baby baby lemonthe paper mama, & a little king & i}

  1. I'm dreading the day that I have to cut my girl's hair. For two reasons: 1. ORIGINAL HAIR!!! 2. Like you, I can't say no to a baby pout. Sigh.

  2. That's so funny! I love that he's getting hair.

E has had 5 haircuts all before his first birthday and needs another one. it's crazy.

My trick is to distract him with food. OR I hold him and scratch his back then he goes into his little relaxed haze and doesn't care about anything.

  3. Look at that handsome little man. I am glad I have girls, because I still haven't caved to a haircut yet. Even though it's a little crazy looking. I should maybe do it...maybe. :)

  5. Awww! I'm sure the pros can handle it, and then both you and Sam can help distract him! I'm not ever cutting Ellie's hair. Ever. Lol!

  6. oh we have been there many times and for some reason its always easier with a pro, they are super fast and my boys always handled it better. But that Parker is one cute boy! Love the sweet pictures you post!

  7. aw so cute.

my little has had his head shaved since birth basically {husband bald by choice}.

all of a sudden braeden has an opinion about his hair and does NOT want it cut. at all. its long. well, long for him.. and growing over his ears.

  8. Ah ha ha. I have cut Bennett's hair many times and I will tell you a trick that works. Sit Parker on the bathroom/kitchen sink and let him play in the water. Bennett held still for his entire haircut. Granted, this last time I cut his hair I made an OOPS and accidentally cut too much off one little patch in the back. Oh well.. it'll grow back! ha ha.

But ya, try the sink. :)

  9. I've cut Spencer's hair a few times, always with some bribery. I don't recommend a lollipop or sucker during the haircut. If he pulls it out of his mouth, hair will stick to it.

P.S. Parker looks freakin adorable sitting in that big chair.

  12. My girl was a late bloomer in the hair department as well. She's still rocking all the originals in a fine toddler mullet. Just over the last few months have I been able to pull it into a pony or pigtails....love!

  13. LOL. I have to deal with that too. He's had like 5 or 6 haircuts now at 14 months old. Brayden wants to look at the scissors, grab them, and hates when you touch his hair to cut it. It took me around 2 hours to cut his hair last time. I need to invest in a buzzer with plates. Haha. Cute pictures!

  14. he's just such a cutie! i love his hair. can't wait to see pictures of how his hair cut will go. my son had super long hair when he was little, he always got mistaken for a girl, so we decided it was time for him to get a hair cut.

  16. We took our LittleMan to Jack & Jill Salon. We went to the one in Lacey, but there is one in Tumwater too. He didn't love getting his haircut (ok, he cried), but it was much easier to have someone who does this on a daily basis and can still make it look nice- like an actual haircut. (If you go to Lacey, ask for Sienna- she was awesome!)

  17. We had to cut Landon's hair a few weeks back. I actually have pictures up on my blog of it. He had a little mullet going on too, lol. I miss those curls but he looks like such a big boy now. We took him to a salon to get it cut. The girl was great with him. He totally wasn't into at first but she gave him a football and he sat there and let her do her thing.

    Here is my post. :D

  20. I think it's the Nielson curse that our children have no hair. Makayla's hair wasn't long enough to put in a ponytail until she was 2-1/2. Kimberly's is very similar. Parker will eventually have more hair.

  21. We've cut Kale's hair a handful of times, but have been letting it grow now. When he was younger it was much easier. Now he tries the same as Parker - to grab the scissors. We've contemplated taking him to a pro, but I'm too terrified they're going to mess up. At least if I mess it up I can only blame myself!

  22. what book is he reading? i would love it for my son

  23. Awww, how could you argue with that face? He's still pretty cute, haircut or not.

  24. Poor Parker! I am sure the pros have some tricks up their sleeves. We have to get Will's hair cut soon, it is in his eyes now. I am holding out for his first birthday next week!

  25. Gosh, he gets more adorable everyday!

This post makes me optimistic for Taylen's hair! I still can't even really pull it back into a clip or anything. I don't even try putting a headband on her anymore so people know she's a girl. :P
