being busy is time consuming.

lately i've been trying to figure out how i can run five miles, make a chevron patterned throw pillow, measure my windows for new curtains, freeze a month's worth of crock pot meals, line up new photo shoots, edit old ones, be a mom/wife/friend & then blog about it all in a single day.

it may be impossible.

but i've been trying.  my to-do lists are insane right now.  and unfortunately i'm limited to a mere 24 hours in the day & sometimes feeding your child or taking a shower is more important than redesigning the photo cluster above your bed.  lame.

but aside from the have-to-do things, i've been spending a lot of time on this stuff lately:

•  i've been running a lot.  while on vacation i went for a run just over 5 miles & it felt so good.  i haven't ran that far since before i was pregnant & i'm totally addicted again.  it's weird how running is drug-like... even though i've done other workouts since then, i'm starting to go through withdrawals & am making room for a good long run this saturday morning.  if it doesn't happen i'll probably go into convulsions & yell obscenities until it does.  it's weird.

•  there are about a kajillion crafty things i've pinned on pinterest that i'm freakishly antsy to get to.  who knew crafts were cool?  definitely not my 16 year old self. {coming up: this, this, & this.  cool, right?}

•  i am weirdly excited about a freezer full of hormone-free & antibiotic-free meat we stocked up on from a local meat market that i have been planning our week's meals around.  we've been trying all kinds of new recipes & finding things based around what's on hand.  i feel like such a legit adult.

•  you may or may not know that i've been dabbling in the world of portrait photography.  i've decided to give it a go & have been slowly working on building a portfolio.  i can feel myself getting better with each session & am really really excited about where this may be going.  but wow, it's time consuming.  {anyone in the pnw area & need some pics?  contact me.  i'm yer gal.}

•  i really want to pretty much redecorate our whole house.  we've been here for five years now & the decor needs some updating.  new curtains, new wall decor, maybe new flooring?  sam's really excited about this one {sike}.

anywho, today i did none of that.  i got groceries.  but i did bring along the ol' camera to scratch that creative itch.  and p-ray is always a willing model.  as long as there are samples involved.

oh, & while on vacay i splurged on some new workout shoes.  they're kinda super bright & they have neon pink swooshes on the sides.  i fell in love with them immediately & then the next day was having neon-shoe-buyer's-remorse.  it's a real thing.

but they've grown on me again.

and the biggest time consumer of my day?  this guy.  he's lucky i like his face.

i like your votes too.  alway have, always will.

  1. I know exactly how you feel. Being a full time mom with a full time job. I always feel like my list is so full! I know what you been about your to-do list. Mine feels so full especially with my son's first birthday coming up. I can't wait to see what you do with decorating your house. Good for you with running. Running has been on my to-do list too, but being in Texas, the weather has finally dropped from 100 so that can be possible now. Good luck with freezing meals, I'm horrible at that. Lucky you have such a cute model for your photography. He is adorable. How old is he?

  2. I agree with you about running.. it's a different kind of effect that you get from other workout's. I guess that's why there's something called "runner's high". If I were in your area, I'd book you for a photography job. I love the pics on your blog. Best wishes to you in that journey, I know you'll be great =) and happy re-decorating!

There's just never enough time and my lists keep growing. But I guess we just have to chill and do what we can, right? Love your new sneakers, new sneakers make me really happy, too!

  5. I know how you feel...I wish I didn't require sleep b/c I could get a whole mess of stuff done while everyone is sleeping. :) There's just not enough time...I've been working on this one quilt for months now! I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to take this long, lol. Well, if we never give up we never fail - so, let's keep trying to juggle all that is motherhood, marriage, our crafty and photography ambitions!

  6. I feel the same way! My to do list is growing every day! And I totally love your neon blue shoes! :) Tomorrow is my 3rd 5k! I am excited! I still cant run the whole way, in the middle of the run i walk for about 3 minutes. I really want to run a 6k, 10k, half! All that! But I can't get past the mental " I need to walk a little" thing!

  14. I like the neon shoes. I'd wear them for sure. So the other day I read this about distance runners....

    http://jakesmag.com/2011/08/is-distance-running-making-us-lose-muscle-and-get-fatter/

    It's about how if distance running is your only form of exercise you end up loosing muscle mass. I think that you do other things than run, but now I'm all paranoid about only running!

    Parker is adorable as usual. Do you ever get funny looks when you take pictures in Costco? Keep doing it!

  15. Oh man...you took the words right out of your mouth. I've decided I go through super productive phases and lazy phases. I have to -- otherwise I feel like I'm spending all day on "projects" and neglecting Cami! Tim & I have been using our evenings to work together on things, which helps because there's just not enough time in the day! Couple more thoughts: your shoes are awesome, I just went running the other night for the first time in forever and felt like I was shooting up, we would still love to do family photos with you, maybe in mid-October when the leaves are changing?, and pinterest is deadly it has me scheming so much now! I think we need to have a girl's night in where we bring crafts and talk and work for a couple hours!

  18. Love those shoes! And I feel ya on the time thing-- I work part time from home while Niall is napping and I feel like I don't have time to do anything else... I try to do the blog at night, but I like to spend that time with Matt, too. It's so tough! But I do feel like the busier you are, the more you somehow find the time to do it all :)

  20. I really wish I didn't need to sleep- or that I didn't love it so much. I could get everything done! And I know what you mean about meal planning! Sometimes accomplishing housekeeping-type stuff makes me feel more grownup than having kids!

  21. I know exactly how you feel! Except about the running thing =). It's hard to juggle an insane to-do list and care for a baby. Sometimes all you have time for is the latter. I also have chevron throw pillows on my list too! What a cool tutorial that you found. I've just been looking for fabric to no avail. Thanks for sharing!

  22. So exciting about you photography endeavors! Can't wait to see what you do with it! The crafts look very interesting. I feel you on the house thing - we have been in our house for 4 years next week and I am itching to make some changes around here. You'll have to post photos of what you do! Parker does have a cute little face!!

  24. Those are some hecka awesome shoes. I love them. But I know what you mean, you feel like you have to be super fit to wear such bold shoes. But don't worry. You are.

  25. Cute photos. I am being pulled in so many directions right now. I really need to put exercising up there. I love your shoes.

  26. Your little guy is adorable and those are really great shots. And your shoes? Also love them. I am running my first 10k this weekend, the Iron Girl around Green Lake in Seattle, it's supposed to be fun. You should be doing it too :) In fact, I got a 15% discount on the registration fee through stroller strides.

    The title of this post caught my eye in Google reader. I, too, am insanely overwhelmed with my life right now. So much to do, so little time...
