we braved stormy seattle weather on saturday to go on date night. wanna know how many baby-free dates we've been on since p-ray's been born? this makes two. but i'm not looking for sympathy, we do most our weekend things with parker in tow by choice... he's a cool kid to have around. but now that he's a bit older & easier to babysit we're gonna try & do monthly date nights. just me & my mister. swoon.
{linking up to steppin' out saturday at harper's happenings. you should do it too. you totally should.}
this is really the only picture i have to show our outfits... i'm not joking when i say lightning struck right before this picture was taken & the thunder rolled for about two minutes after. so we were hurrying. and it was raining. so that's why parker looks a bit frazzled.
and i promise our outfits are much cuter than they appear here... so forgive me in advance if i wear it all in a few weeks & try again. ok? sweet.
amy: shirt - american eagle, sweater - old navy, belt - american eagle, jeans - gap
parker: hat - mariner's team store, shirt - target, sweats - babygap, air jordan's - nordstrom rack
and now on to the details of our date. it was dreamy. we went to our favorite local thai place & bonded over two heaping plates of noodles & spiciness. and maybe we polished off both plates. plus a bowl of sticky rice. and fortune cookies. and it was delicious.
i'm super excited about making this a regular thing... despite the look of anti-excitement in that picture above, we had a ton of fun. since dinner only took an hour, we headed to the mall where we made fun of all the high school kids ridiculously dressed up for prom. and why the freak were there so many of them at the mall? we had no idea.
but seriously it was a blast. i don't know why we haven't been doing this every month for the last twelve months. i loved hanging out with sam just the two of us & pretending like we were just a couple of kids dating again. and picking up our sleepy baby who jabbered about his night the whole way home until he passed out was pretty fun too.
two clicks if you love date night! or, even if you don't.
Awesome. We totally thought about you guys today as we were going to the Olympian for Euros and they are putting a "Lemon Grass" right next to it. Though its a Vietnamese restaurant and not Thai so we were pretty bummed. But I guess those countries are pretty close :)
ReplyDeletei hope you guys do make it a regular thing!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a great time! We need to make dates a regular thing too. I always wonder why there are so many prom kids at the mall too. Shouldn't they be at prom?
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great night! Matt and I went back to our old college stomping grounds the other night. It was refreshing!! Glad you guys had a great time!
ReplyDeletei think my hubs and i have been on... 6 {or something close to that} and my little is 2 ;)
ReplyDeleteI feel really bad...we were supposed to watch Parker for you this month for this very purpose. It's just turned into a crazy couple of weeks. Let's get your June date night on the calendar ASAP!
ReplyDeleteWe hardly go on kid free date nights ourselves. In fact this week was our anniversary and we took Henry with us on our lunch date. Pathetic.
ReplyDeleteWe actually almost went to lemon grass, but didn't want to try and find parking downtown on a weeknight. We are so lame.
We should totally do a meetup sometime.
Awww, date night are fun! We try to go do stuff when we can.
ReplyDeleteoooh you had me at thai food. YUM its probably my favorite next to real mexican. you should totally do regular date nights sans baby! thats awesome he is chill enough to go but it is so fun pretending like you are dating again.. flirting holding hands. making out in the car.. okay maybe thats just me lol loved this!
ReplyDeleteLooks majorly yummy! Makin' me homesick for the misty rainy green Puget Sound...
ReplyDeleteP.S. Parker is rockin that M's hat, too! Love it!

ReplyDeleteMy hubby and I don't do as many date nights as we should....here's to making it a priority!
ReplyDeleteAnd, Parker looks huge in that picture! Like he grew overnight or something! Haha!
That date night sounds nice. I'd love to go out to my fave Thai place, just the two of us. *Hatching a plan*
ReplyDeleteThis made me think of a girl I knew from BYU and her "Project 52: Date Nights" she had on her blog last year. Check it out: http://www.simplymodernmom.com/2009/12/project-52-date-nights/
ReplyDeleteDate night is such a great idea-- I really gotta get on that. I LOVE Lemongrass. I didn't realize it was a country-wide chain! Sure doesn't taste like it :)

Mmmm, that looks like Pad Thai :) My favorite! We haven't had many date nights as well, but it's something we really need to make more of an effort in doing. I have to teach my hubs the basics on my camera...he barely likes holding it let alone attempting to take a photo...I need some pictures of me :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoy both your date nights with & without Parker! And oh, the food looks yummy!:)
ReplyDeleteyay for date nights! glad it was so fun and now I am craving thai!! :)
ReplyDeleteYour pants are awesome. As are date nights and Thai Food. I'm glad you all had fun!
ReplyDeletedate nites are awesome! I'm glad you two got to go out on the town and enjoy yourselves a bit.
