well, actually he just hates sitting on grass.
we had another gorgeous day here in the pnw {i know, right??} and i said to parker, "hey little monster {that's actually a term of endearment, despite what the glaring lady at the pediatrician's office might have thought}, let's go sit out on the grass & wait for your dad to get home. and? bonus. i'll take your picture & you'll look cute."
it all sounded good in my head. too bad p-ray hates sitting in the grass. i got all sorts of puckered lips, furrowed brow, & squinty-eyed frustration shots. and not even the cute kind. the kind where you're like, geeze kid... lighten up. but here's one of the cuter-ish ones.
so i resorted to taking headless shots.
...because without a head you'd never know this kid has a deep seeded fear of death by grass exposure.
and then i attempted to make things better by plopping him down on a blanket. he didn't like that much either. i can tell because he's obviously plotting something terrible to get back at me for all of this.
right?
definite payback brewing in that mind of his.
but then i reminded him that his birthday was in five days & we'll be celebrating it in two days. and that seemed to help him come around a bit.
silly p-ray.
and in closing, i have to give a shout out to target who knows how to pick me up when i'm feeling down. yes, i'm referring to you mr-eight-dollar-clearance-blue-stripey-sweater. you made my day.
just sayin.
vote vote vote! please?
Jack was not a fan of grass last summer either. We would set him down in it, and he would refuse to touch it with his hands and he would lift up his legs so that it was never touching. This spring? He loves it! Especially running barefoot through the lawn! ;)
ReplyDeleteHe is just too stinkin' cute.
ReplyDeleteHaha, maybe he'll get used to it soon! Love the ones of him smiling though :) Cute new sweater!
ReplyDeletewhen i was a baby i was supposedly petrified of grass. kids are weird!
ReplyDeleteHa ha his fear of grass cracks me up! He's till cute sittin' in it, though. And yah for late night Target trips. You stole my heart with that blue and white striped sweater. I love stripes.
ReplyDeletethis is such a funny and cute post! I am just so loving your blog right now! and that Parker is one very cute kid!!
ReplyDeleteHis frustrated face made me laugh, he's so funny, how did you get that kind of shot so clearly?? My Alana didn't like stepping on grass either, but I just couldn't get a perfect pic like you did.. awesome!
ReplyDeleteIs parker's shirt from target? If so i think i just got jasper the same one. Love it. And that's too funny he's afraid of grass! The boy I used to nanny for was terrified of snow- if there was a tiny bit on the sidewalk he would walk around it.
ReplyDeleteAw I love the last one, with the squinty-eye smile :)
ReplyDeleteAnd, you can't beat $8!!! I love Target!
Too funny! You did get some cute pictures though :)
ReplyDeletehahahahahahahahahaha sooooo freaking funny. i love the - payback shot!!!
ReplyDeleteand, i have that sweater... it cost more than 8 bucks though {insert mad face}
I LOVE this "plotting something evil" look. So cute.
ReplyDeleteAww he is such a cutie! Alyson actually loves grass. She's always trying to get to it and pull it out lol.
ReplyDeleteThe Sweetest Life♥
I really want to squish him. SO cute.
ReplyDeleteFunny, when my oldest was nearly the exact same age, she freaked out when she walked in the grass...for the first time. No lying. At the time we lived in Boston and lived in a mid-rise condo. She was in daycare full time and the only times she was ever in grass was in shoes. For her first birthday we visited relatives in Mississippi and even though at home there was snow, in the South it was warm and she got to put her bare feet in the grass...and she cried. Didn't dig it one bit. Now, well she's five and it's hard to get her to keep shoes on!
ReplyDeleteAll 3 of my kids have been afraid of grass at this age! It's the strangest thing. Love those pictures!
ReplyDeleteSooo cute! Happy birthday P-Ray!
ReplyDeleteI love parkers shirt. The colors look so good on him. The first picture cracks me up.
ReplyDeleteOh Parker..what a silly guy.
ReplyDeleteWill has not experienced grass yet, but I can only hope he will love it as much as I do. Loving all of Parker's little faces!! Very exciting that his birthday is so close!
ReplyDeleteThat's so funny- you just never know what they're gonna decide they hate. Sitting on grass is pretty random! Can't wait to see b-day pix :)
ReplyDeleteHa he is such a hunk of love! That plotting pic is hilarious. I hate grass too so I don't blame the little guy. Great pictures!
ReplyDeletehenry hates the grass too! funny babies.
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh parker is so adorable! what a handsome little fellow :)
ReplyDeleteParker is cute even when he's fussy! That baby is the best ever. And Target always knows how to turn my frown upside-down. You looked smashing in that little cardigan, too.
ReplyDeleteHilarious.
ReplyDeleteMy little brother HATED grass until he was about 3. I plan to rub Elliot's face in it so he doesn't have a choice but to get used to it. JUST kidding. :)
... but really, I do hope he likes it.
Awwww! JD used to hate grass (I have a hilarious pic of him in shorts trying desperately to keep his legs from touching it) AND sand (beach days were interesting), but thankfully he got over it!
ReplyDeleteMy 11 month old hates sitting on the grass too. I've got some really cute photos of him but there's a muslin cloth between him and the grass! He was funny about sand too, but now loves it :)
