i also made a batch of my favorite this-time-of-year cookie, pumpkin chocolate chip. seriously theeee best fall-ish treat. maybe this is the third batch i've made in two weeks. maybe.
i think everyone should make these cookies, because they are to. die. for. they're actually yummier the day after you make them, because the chocolate chips get all hard & the cookie is still super soft & moisty. yum.
pumpkin chocolate-chip cookies
ingredients:
1/2 cup butter 2 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 cup sugar 1 tsp. baking powder
1 egg 1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp vanilla 1 tsp. salt
1 cup pureed pumpkin 1 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 cup chocolate chips 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
directions:
1. combine butter, sugar, egg, vanilla & mix well {i use a mixer, but i'm sure it could be done by hand}
2. in a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, nutmeg, & cinnamon. sift.
3. add half the dry ingredients to butters & sugar. mix. now add half the pumpkin. mix. repeat with the remainders.
4. mix in chocolate chips.
5. eat globs of cookie dough.
6. drop onto cookie sheets in 1" balls.
7. bake at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes. {mine never take a second over 10 minutes to bake, but i have a hot oven}
seriously, make these today. you'll thank me tomorrow {because they're even better on the second day. it's weird.}
camera update
so i've blogged once or twice {or three hundred times} about how we are saving for a new dslr & how i've been shopping around to see what one to buy. i thought i had it pinned down to the new nikon d7000 with a kit lens & a 50 mm, but i don't know anymore. and i'm starting to get overwhelmed by all the options. i think i've changed my mind to a canon, too. but now i don't know what body/lens combo to go for.
so i need some advice! what camera do you have? what lenses do you have/want? i want a moderate to serious camera with a starting budget of around $1,500. puh-lease make your recommendations in the comments. thanks, ya'll.
steppin' out saturday {on sunday}
we didn't do anything this weekend that required dressing up, so this week's steppin' out comes at ya post-church today. isn't this picture lovely? parker has taken to shoving my hair in his mouth every chance he gets. it's gross.
parker
collared button-up shirt - kenneth cole {hand-me down}
navy dress pants - baby gap
shoes - old navy
amy
shirt, tank, skirt, & necklace - american eagle
sweater - target
boots - macy's
to see other what other mamas wore this weekend, hop on over to harper's happenings & check out some other blogs & their hawt mamas. or better yet, link up your own! it's fun.
and with that, it's time for me to go join my little family out in the living room. we've taken to watching the seasons of arrested development from beginning to end for the ten millionth time. that show is like, milk-out-your-nose funny every single time. i never get sick of it & it never fails. suriously.
your votes never fail to make me happy! just forty more & we're in the top ten. woah.
First, those cookies look fantastic!! I just made some pumpkin cookies (from Northwest Betty's blog), and they were so good! I can't wait to try these next weekend! You look so cute on your steppin out pic! Love Parker eating your hair!! About the camera- I've told you before, but I got the Nikon D3000 recently and I am madly in love with it. And it has more lenses for when I want them. Love it!!
ReplyDeleteWe have a Canon 20D. When were were looking for a better camera a few years ago this seemed to be the thing, and Luke's friend who teaches photography at Capital recommended it. Plus we had existing Canon lenses. Also, with a kid or pets a macro is a must!
ReplyDeletePoppy is putting EVERYTHING in her mouth these days - my hair, earrings, etc. Also, she thinks it is absolutely hysterical when she puts HER hand in my mouth when she's nursing. She starts cracking up and forgets she is supposed to be eating.
First I want to say you look GREAT! love your outfit and the one of your little man.
ReplyDeleteI am also curious about which camera you choose. I am in the process of Saving and picking one myself and any ideas would be awesome. I was originally on getting the D90 or a Canon Rebel t2i but I keep jumping back and forth.
Also those choco cookies I am definitely trying this week! something about the holidays makes me want to bake like CRAZY so this might just hit the spot with me.
i love love love your skirt-it looks so cute and comfy at the same time!
ReplyDeleteWe have a Canon Rebel XTi 10.1MP. It came with the with EF-S 18-55mm lens and we also have a Canon EF 75-300mm (for telephoto) and Canon EF 24-70mm (you don't want to know how much the last lens cost...Trust me) :)
ReplyDeleteI would love to take a photo class at Green River or even read the manual sometime so I could actually take some decent pictures with it. We hauled it all over Europe and got some pretty great shots.
Whatever you chose, I'm sure you will love!
You guys look stylin'! Very cute! I am no help on the cameras but your sisters should have an opinion on both Canon and Nikon...
ReplyDeleteI WANT TO KNOW HOW THE HELL YOU'RE SO SKINNY EATING DQ AND 3 BATCHES OF CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES?
ReplyDeletei hate you.
anyway, i have a canon t1i. if i were you, i'd get a camera like mine and just get some amazing lenses. it's truly all about the lenses.
I just wrote the recipe down for those a-mazing looking cookies and I cannot wait to make them! Also, thank you so much for making a post that I was going to myself... I, too, have been saving for a DSLR camera (I just have a Canon PowerShot SX120 IS) and now I can just look and see what people recommend you! Good luck on which one you pick!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the cookie recipe - I'm definitely going to give it a try!
ReplyDeleteAlso, funny you mentioned Arrested Development - Kris and I just started re-watching from episode 1!!
I am totally making those cookies this week. Lots and lots and lots of them.
ReplyDeleteWe have a Nikon D90 and I love it a lot. But to be fair, I use it on auto 90% of the time with the kit lens it came with. I hope to get another lens soon but still don't know enough about photography to choose the RIGHT one.
And finally, we watch Arrested Development at least 4 times a year, beginning to end. It is our favorite show ever.
Okay first off! Love you and Parker's outfit. CUTE! You know I love that cardigan :-)
ReplyDeleteI have a Canon 7D and have several lenses. But that combo might be a little outta your range... hmm.
I would suggest a Canon T2i with a 50mm f/1.8 lens. I think you will have everything you need if you go with that combo!
I have a Canon XSi, not sure how that compares to the Canon T2i that people are mentioning, but I do like it. The kit lens sucks in my opinion, but it did work. I mostly use the 50mm f/1.8 but I also have the Canon EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6. I like that one as well, and one of my friends who is a photographer recommended it to me.
ReplyDeleteMmmmm...cookies! Thanks for the recipe! Love the photos, you look great!
ReplyDeleteNow getting into the camera talk, I'm a Nikon girl and shoot with a D300s but as for price range, I'd reccommend the D90, 50mm 1.8 lens and or the 35mm 1.8 lens. You could get all 3 camera body + kit lens (18-105mm & 50mm lens, all for $1,320 :) Yes I did some price research for you :)Or you can skip the kit lens and get the 35mm 1.8 lens and still be in your price range. Have fun shopping!!
Let me admit: at first, I wrinkled my nose at the thought of pumpkin/chocolate cookies. But then, I got to thinking about it... and I {love} pumpkin pie so... why not pumpkin cookies? I'm giving this recipe a try one day this week :)
ReplyDeleteYou look so cute! Love your outfit.
ReplyDeleteI have no camera advice because I want the D7000, I have the D3000 right now and want to upgrade.
Those cookies look delicious. I am going to have to try them.
Pie tries to eat my hair too...so gross!
ReplyDeleteAll I can say about cameras is that my sister and brother are professionals and the swear by nikon.
Mmmm, I have made pumpkin chocolate cookies a few times this fall. They are soooo good!
ReplyDeleteI have a Canon T1i and love it! I got it in a set from Costco with a lense up to 55 and then and additional 55-250 lens. I think it was only around $800. I love it!
Yumm pumpkin cookies. Its a good thing Mom shares her good recipes with us or else where would we be in life. Just a bunch of people walking around with taste buds that are useless. What a sad little picture. So today I salute you Maria!
ReplyDeletethose cookies look YUUUUUM. my hubs hates pumpkin so i hate him this time of year (ok, not really i'm obsessed with him...but you get it).
ReplyDeleteI made the cookies last night, I doubled the batch and frosted half with cream cheese. They were delicious. Now they are being sold to high schoolers as a fundraiser today :-)
ReplyDeleteLOVE these shots :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck saving for & choosing your new DSLR :) It is SO crazy hard to make the choice! I recommend the Canon Rebel D2i it is the best bang for your buck. The 50mm f/1.8 lens is a good choice to start out with :)
DUDE. These cookies are my favorite. They taste kind of like muffin tops, yes? I made them for Halloween and had to throw some of them away because I could not. stop. eating.
ReplyDeleteGreatings, ЎUf, me gustу! Tan clara y positiva.
ReplyDeleteGracias
